Handcrafted paint and paper, made in England.
Farrow & Ball has been making paint and wallpaper in England since 1946, when chemist John Farrow and engineer Richard Ball began mixing rich colors to original recipes using only the finest ingredients. Everything is still handcrafted with the same generous pigments and, since 2010, eco-friendly water-based, low-VOC formulations.
Calimia Home is a premium Farrow & Ball stockist. Explore the signature palette with true-to-color sample pots, available to purchase, before committing to a full order.
Yes. True-to-color sample pots are in stock and available to purchase, so you can test a shade in your own light before ordering.
Start by measuring the walls you plan to paint. Multiply the width by the height of each wall, then add them together for your total square footage.
A US gallon covers about 480 square feet, and a 750 ml can covers about 143 square feet. Divide your total square footage by that coverage to get the quantity you need, and order enough for two coats of your topcoat color plus one coat of Primer & Undercoat.
Those figures are for walls only. They do not account for windows, doors, recesses, niches, or cavities, and a deep shade going over a much lighter one may need an extra coat. If your space is at all complicated, check with your decorator or email us at shop@calimiahome.com before ordering.
For the richest, longest-lasting result, use the matching Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat in the recommended tone under your topcoat.
It depends on the surface you are painting and how much wear it needs to stand up to. Every finish is available in the full color range, so the difference is sheen level and durability.
For interior walls and ceilings: Estate Emulsion (2% sheen) is the classic flat matte, with the chalky depth Farrow & Ball is known for. Dead Flat (2% sheen) gives the same ultra-matte look but is washable and scuff-resistant, so it suits hallways, playrooms, and color drenching a whole room including the woodwork. Modern Emulsion (7% sheen) is tough, easy to clean, and formulated with mold protection, which makes it the one for kitchens and bathrooms.
For interior wood, metal, and floors: Flat Eggshell (20% sheen) is scrubbable, stain-resistant, and scuff-proof, ideal for baseboards, stairs, and kitchen cabinets. Modern Eggshell (40% sheen) is a super-tough finish for surfaces and floors that take heavy use. Full Gloss (95% sheen) gives a high-shine, reflective look on wood, metal, walls, and ceilings.
For exteriors: Exterior Masonry (2% sheen) is the matte finish for brick, render, and stucco. Exterior Eggshell (20% sheen) is for exterior wood and metal, including doors, windows, and trim.
Two things worth knowing. Higher sheen reflects more light, so it highlights imperfections in the surface underneath and calls for more prep, while flatter finishes are more forgiving. And because sheen changes how light bounces off a surface, the same color reads slightly darker in a higher-sheen finish.
