The maker

Thrown by hand in Vermont.

Farmhouse Pottery was founded in 2012 by James and Zoe Zilian in Woodstock, Vermont, born from a love of traditional craft and the slow food movement. It began in the basement of their farmhouse with one kiln and two wheels, and grew into a Woodstock studio where more than twenty potters now throw pieces by hand.

Every piece is made to be used and kept, in the spirit of buying fewer, better things. The collection centers on durable American stoneware, alongside turned wood and hand-blown glass, each carrying the small variations that come from real handwork.

Good to know
Questions, answered before you order.

Farmhouse Pottery's stoneware is thrown and finished by hand by potters at their Woodstock, Vermont studio, so slight variations in glaze, tone, and form are normal and part of the character of every piece.

Care depends on the material. The stoneware is lead and cadmium free and safe for the microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher. Wood pieces should be hand-washed, never soaked, and conditioned now and then; glass should be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

Most in-stock items leave our studio within 2–4 business days.
