Sea Garden Prehistoire Vase

$600.00

Part of Ellen Robinson's Sea Garden series, this hand-built vase carries the texture of coral and fossil forms in warm terra-cotta under a chalky white glaze. Sculptural enough to stand alone and generous enough for a full arrangement, it brings quiet, artful presence to a mantel or table. Available in two sizes, each hand-formed and one of a kind.

The maker

Hand-built ceramics from Brooklyn.

Ellen Robinson is a Brooklyn artist working in clay, building functional vessels by hand from her studio. A studio potter with residencies at Greenwich House Pottery and Henry Street Settlement, she shapes each piece to record the touch of the maker in the clay.

Working in terracotta with a soft white glaze, her Sea Garden and Old Enchantment series draw on the natural world, abstraction, and the quiet beauty of form and surface. Because every piece is hand-formed, no two are exactly alike.

Each piece is hand-built from terra-cotta and finished with a white glaze in Ellen Robinson's Brooklyn studio. Because every piece is formed by hand, dimensions and surface vary slightly from one to the next.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. These are decorative, hand-formed vessels, so keep them out of the dishwasher and avoid soaking. For fresh flowers, use a liner or a smaller vessel inside.
