Walter G began in 2012, when best friends Lauren Emerson and Genevieve Hewson traveled through the villages of India and fell for the centuries-old craft of hand block printing. Back home in Sydney, they named the studio for their late grandfathers, Walter and George.
Every design is still drawn by hand in their Sydney studio, then carried to Sanganer in Rajasthan, where local artisans print it onto linen and cotton using hand-carved wooden blocks and ink. The small irregularities of the human hand are what make each piece its own.
