Fredericks & Mae is a New York design studio founded in 2007 by Gabriel Fredericks Cohen and Giovi Signorile, who began collaborating as students at Oberlin and have been making things together ever since. What started in a Brooklyn studio with feathers, thread, gold, and paper is now a shop and studio on Allen Street in Manhattan, a place they describe as a casual museum of everyday objects.
Each object is designed by the pair and made by hand, from powder-coated iron candle holders to the small, considered goods that have become the studio's signature. The result is pieces with real craft and a sense of play, made to be lived with.
