A Day in the Life at Calimia Home

Coral Gables is more than where we’re based. It’s a neighborhood that inspires us daily. From its tree-lined streets to its historic architecture and vibrant dining scene, it offers endless charm. When we step out from The Shop, these are the nearby spots we find ourselves returning to again and again.

Morning Rituals in Coral Gables

Once a week we start the day with a flower run to Berkeley Florist Supply, where we gather fresh stems to bring new life into The Shop. On the way in, we stop at Pasion del Cielo for our favorite iced americano with a splash of milk, (Costa Rican beans) to fuel the morning before opening the doors, prepping the space, and connecting with the team.

Midday Moments

Lunch might be a sit-down at Calista Greek Restaurant on Giralda, or on busier days, a quicker stop at Naked Farmer.  One of our current projects is located along the Granada Golf Course in Coral Gables, where the historic homes and lush surroundings offer endless inspiration for our full-service interior design and interior styling work. Some afternoons also call for a stop at Tinta y Café, where a quick snack and a cortadito recharges the team for the rest of the day. 

Sourcing, Styling and Studio Time 

Afternoons at Calimia Home are often reserved for sourcing, styling and client appointments at our Coral Gables showroom. You can find us at nearby Carpet Boutique pulling samples for clients, or Country Floors on Ponce, known for its beautiful tile and stone collections. We often stop by Visual Comfort down the street to select lighting that brings warmth and depth to our projects. Rudma Picture is a longtime local favorite known for its craftsmanship and eye for detail, whether we're framing our vintage botanical artwork or finalizing custom pieces for client installation. 

Having so many design resources within a short distance is one of the things we love most about being based in Coral Gables. 

Evening Wind-Down

We like to end the day with happy hour at our neighbor's Bouchon Bistro. It’s the perfect close to a day filled with creativity, collaboration, and connection. Closing up The Shop and strolling over for a glass of wine has become one of our favorite rituals. 

Hillstone is another go-to for its classic menu and timeless drinks, while Zucca remains a favorite Italian dinner spot. For something sweet, we love ScandyCandy, a little piece of Sweden in Coral Gables, just a short walk down the street from Hillstone.
